The bump outs on the north side of Park Avenue are moving well, crews have poured the curb and will be pouring the ramp and sidewalk pieces next week. Crews started April 24th on Gratiot Avenue and have put in one of the new drainage pieces. The crew is working on the other side today. If all goes to plan they will move to the south side of Superior Street the week of May 5th. Gratiot will have the same type of construction set up as Woodworth did. Crews should be starting the work on the ramps at State Street sometime next week. If the crews keep this pace they will be moving over to the south side of Superior the week of May 5th. This phase of the bump outs, handicap ramps and lights will be done May 22nd. The work then moves to the night mill and resurface of Superior Street. Then the final phase of crosswalk construction. COMPLETION DATE JUNE 27th.

| | 1-Streetscape STREETSCAPE CONSTRUCTION NEWS!
Streetscape construction is underway. The crews will be working on the north side of Superior Street and working on every other intersection, this will allow the traffic move through downtown without detours. MDOT has added some work to the project, which will update all the handicap ramps to the current standards at all the intersections in downtown.
The schedule as of today: work will start on Monday April 14th; the crew will begin by saw cutting on the north side at: Pine Avenue for the new handicap ramps, Woodworth Avenue for the new bump outs, and Prospect Street for the new bump outs. Once the saw cutting is completed the crew will go back through and pour the new ramps and curb at those intersections.
The crews will repeat this process at the other three intersections on the north side: Saw cutting at Park Avenue for the new bump outs, State Street for the new handicap ramps, and Gratiot Avenue for the new bump outs. After the sawing cutting is done they will do the pouring for the ramps and curb. Once I know the pouring schedule I will let everyone know.
After the crew completes the north side they will move to the south side of Superior Street and follow the same process. The first intersections they will work on are Pine, Woodworth, and Prospect; followed by the Park, State and Gratiot intersections. The crews are scheduled to be completed with this phase May 22nd the Thursday of Highland Festival weekend. The site is to be cleaned and all signed removed to get ready for the big weekend.
As I receive more information I will post it on the Alma DDA website homepage. So come back and check this site from time to time to get the construction progress.
